Marshalltown, Iowa (October 27, 2012) – Marshalltown Speedway’s Toby Kruse has a 2012 event schedule that will boast 26 nights of racing at the famed ¼ mile dirt track, located on the Marshall County Fairgrounds.  The 2012 season will see sanctioned racing in the IMCA Modifieds, Stock Cars, SportMods, Hobby Stocks and Sport Compacts classes, with the Mod Lites completing the Friday night race cards.

The first scheduled laps of next season will be on Sunday, April 1st.  Drivers, car owners and fans are invited out to the fairgrounds during the day where the race cars will be on display and drivers will sign autographs.  There will also be a free cook out followed by practice, which will start at 5:00 pm, ending around 8:00pm.

The 2012 opening night of racing is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 6th when the Tri-County Heating annual “Frostbuster” hits the high banks.  In 2011 a record setting 229 race teams took to the ¼ mile speed plant to contest for the annual “Frostbuster” championship.

The Wolf Seeds “Chase for the Championship” will kick off the official points season on Friday, April 13th and be contested on a total of 21 Friday nights.  After all, Marshalltown Speedway is “What Friday Nights are made for”.

Mark your calendar for additional events like:  the 7th annual “Miller Lite 50” IMCA Derry Brothers Summer Series for Late Models event, scheduled for Tuesday night, May 22nd,  the Toby K’s Hideaway “1K Shootout” on July 3rd.  Once again the “Shootout” will pay $1,000 to win for both the IMCA Stock Cars and SportMods.  Included on the race card for that night will also be the IMCA Stock Cars and Sport Compacts.  And, on Friday night, July 20th, the IMCA Modifieds will race for $1,000 to win, on the heels of Knoxville Raceway’s annual “Harris Clash” for Modifieds.

The 2012 season will come to an exciting culmination when racers from across the nation and Canada merge on Marshalltown Speedway for the 6th annual Toby K’s Hideaway “Havoc on the Highbanks”.  The 2012 version of the “Havoc” is scheduled for Friday & Saturday, September 21st and 22nd.

Race fans may purchase 2012 season tickets for the grandstands at a reduced rate of $170 and season pit passes may be purchased for only $380.  Season tickets and season pit passes will be good for the 21 nights that make up the Wolf Seeds “Chase for the Championship” only.

For the drivers in 2012 there will also be an added perk.  “The Road to Indy”: in each of the shared IMCA classes between Marshalltown Speedway and Independence Motor Speedway, drivers can earn a bonus of up to $90 each week.  Any driver able to capture heat races wins in consecutive nights at each track, will earn a free pit pass for the following week at both tracks.  In addition to this, any driver finishing in the top four spots in the feature events at both tracks on consecutive nights will earn a $50 cash bonus.

For those of you who can’t wait until next season to get a racing fix, don’t forget the annual “Battle at the Barn IV” coke syrup races.  Motorcycles, go-karts, four wheelers, three wheelers, lawn mowers and golf carts will battle it out at the Jacobson Building, Iowa State Fairgrounds on Friday January 20th and Saturday January 21st.
