Marshalltown, Iowa (April 11th, 2014) –  Engines roar back to life at the high banked quarter mile on Friday night with the annual Tri County Heating and Cooling Frostbuster but this season also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Speedway. The pit area was jammed with 139 cars from five different states and one province in Canada.

Marshalltown, Iowa (August 30th,  2013) – The regular season ended on Friday Night at the Marshalltown Speedway with the Larry Wollam Season Championships. It's a night we honor great promotor, car owner and supporter of the speedway that lost his battle to cancer 14 years ago. One driver visitied victory lane for the first time in his career.

Marshalltown, IA (August 20, 2013) - Marshalltown Speedway promoter Toby Kruse has been working for the last several months with PBM, Erson, and World Products to host a major event for the Modified class and the race is drawing near.
The Annual Havoc on the Highbanks at Marshalltown will now be known as the World Nationals featuring a $10,000 pay day for the Modified victor on September 21st.
The Modified portion of the show is non-crate race presented by your local machine shop and engine builder.  Racers that have run a crate engine during the season are eligible to run the World Nationals, they must conform to the non-crate for the weekend event.
The event will kick off on Thursday, September 19th, with the Cookies BBQ Sauce practice night.  Thursday night will be the only night for hot laps.  After hot laps, there will be free food and music for all in attendance.
The Modifieds will run two set of heats on Friday, the second set inverted from the starting order of the first heat. All heat race winners will be awarded $100 courtesy of the supporting machine shops.  The top ten in total points after Friday will advance to the $10,000 to win, 50 lap event, and $500 to start Feature on Saturday.  All other cars will be placed in last chance events on Saturday based on points they earn on Friday night.  The Stock Cars and SportMods will be running two complete shows on each night going after $1,000 to win on each night.  The Hobby Stocks will follow suit with a top prize of $500 each night with the addition of the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks on Saturday night.  The Stock Cars, SportMods, and Hobby Stocks will all be I.M.C.A. sanctioned and the Modifieds will follow the I.M.C.A. rules but will not be sanctioned for this event.  Camping is available on the grounds at $15.00 per night.
Pit passes will be $15 on Thursday, $25 on Friday, and $30 on Saturday.  The grandstands are free on Thursday, $12 on Friday, and $15 on Saturday, children 10 and under will be $2.00 each night in the grandstands.
Times for the event are as follows: Thursday pits at 3:00, Friday pits at 2:00/grandstands 5:00, Saturday pits at 2:00/grandstands 5:00.

Marshalltown, Iowa (August 23rd,  2013) – From the drop of the green to the finish of the night there was great three, four and sometimes five wide racing, every fan in attendance definitely got their money worth. A couple of youngster in Sam Wieben and Tyler Droste got their first win of the season at MoTown along with Donavon Smith meanwhile Merv Chandler, Eric Larson and Josh May all repeat. Also a Modified King of the Hill and a Stock Car Australian Pursuit was added to the card.

Marshalltown, Iowa (August 16th, 2013) – After amazing show on Tuesday Night the speedway track prep team had three days to get the track in shape for some more racing and they did that. They were racing three, four and five wide from the start of the race to the finish of the race. Nobody went home disappointed as there was also a Stock Car King of the Hill.

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 26th,  2013) – Perfect night for racing on Johnny Ray’s Sports Bar and Grille Night at the Marshalltown Speedway as the weather was spring and fall like with temperatures in the lower seventies. The race track produced some great three, four and five racing which made for some amazing finishes.

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 19th,  2013) – On Friday Night, the gang from Racers Against ALS was in attendance to aware people about Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, which is a degenerative disease affecting nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord, its also known to many people as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. They had t-shirts for sale and Former Iowa Hawkeye Football Player Brad Banks was on hand to sign some autographs. Meanwhile as for the racing on the track, the race track was wide and many races throughout the night they were racing two, three and even four wide.

Marshalltown, Iowa (July 12th,  2013) – Multi grooved racing surface produced some great racing on the initial start of many races tonight and that produced some great racing all through the night. Fans in attendance experience extra excitement when the spectators race their personal cars in spectator eliminators. One driver gets his first win in four years, another driver gets his first win of the season at MoTown.

One driver was racing with a very heavy heart after the loss of a family member earlier in the day.

Marshalltown, Iowa (May 10th, 2013) – Mother Nature hasn’t cooperated lately but on Friday Night the Speedway was able to honor a former Marshalltown Speedway Pioneer in  Cliff Chambers. The night produced some great racing all night long.

Josh Zieman grabbed the lead and never let go as he took his 2nd straight Cliff Chambers Memorial in the Nostgalia Stock Car Club of Iowa 10 lap feature. Jamie Huff grabbed 2nd away from Jim Anderson. Pudge Grabill and Tyler Ahlman rounded out the top 5.

Marshalltown, Iowa (April 5th, 2013) – After being off since September the Marshalltown Speedway returned with the Annual Frostbuster with a little over one hundred-ninety cars signed in to do battle from 10 different states and 1 Canadian province.

 

All night we would see some great three and four wide racing on a very wide and smooth racing surface. During the feautres however they were raceing five wide at times.

Des Moines, Iowa (January 16, 2013) – Battle at the Barn Promoter, Toby Kruse just commented “I am so excited; news surrounding the Battle at the Barn just keeps growing”.  It has just been announced that Des Moines native and NASCAR Nationwide Series star, Michael Annett will not only compete on Friday and Saturday nights, he will increase the winnings for all of those who compete in the paying go-kart classes.  Kruse says, “Michael wanted to give back to grass roots racing and what a better place to do that, than in his home town”.  Annett will be donating $50 to each heat race winner and $50 to the sixth place driver in the feature events for all paying class of go-karts.  Michael said, “It all started here for me and I want to pay it back to the grass root racers who will be racing in Des Moines at the Battle at the Barn”.

On the night we honor a former racer, car owner and promoter in Larry Wollam which lost his battle to leukemia 13 years ago. The fans came out and enjoy a great night of racing.

The night also would see the kids replacing horsepower with peddle power as the annual kid races that got rescheduled from earlier in the season and at the end of the night it was the ever so popular fan favorite Spectator Eliminator Races.

Also on KMJ Performance Night at the Speedway the Micro Sprints were in attendance. The weather might have been a little chilly but the fans didn't come disappointed.

The I.M.C.A. Modified drivers making the “A” Main at the Knoxville Raceway during the Harris Clash will be eligible for a $500 bonus the next night at the Marshalltown Speedway. If a driver that qualified for the “A” main at the Harris Clash can back that up with a win at Marshalltow n the following night, they will receive a $500 bonus courtesy of Knoxville Raceway and Marshalltown Speedway. The Harris Clash will be run on Thursday, July 19th at the famed ½ mile Knoxville Raceway. The next night at the Marshalltown Speedway it will be a draw/redraw format for the Modified drivers as they run for $1,000 to win and $100 to start in the “A” main event.

After having 3 weeks off the Marshalltown Speedway roar to life with 158 race cars signed in to do battle on night number 1 of the 5th Annual Havoc on the High Banks. Of those 158 race cars there was 4 states represented and they were Iowa, Illinois, Missouri and Calfornia.

The Toby K's Hideaway 5th Annual Havoc on the Highbanks is set go this weekend with two complete shows for Friday and Saturday night.  The pit gates will open at 4:30, hot laps at 6:30, and racing at 7:00.  The grandstand admission is $12 for adults, $2.00 for children 11 and under, and pit admission is $25

The first feature of the night was the Iowa Micro Sprint Series Sprints. Ben Woods would take the early lead after starting tenth, Woods would lead until, Russ Prather was able to chase him down and make the pass. Prather would take the win in the green-to-checkered feature with Woods taking 2nd. Eric Bridger, Kelly Buckallew and Nathan Mills rounded out the top 5.

Last week races were rained out after the heat races, and forced double features on Hy-Vee/Hy-Vee Gas and Hogeland Auto Plaza Kids night.

The night would start with the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites Make-Up feature. Jeff Stensland would take the lead when the racing action got going but Mike Morrill took the lead from Stensland. Morrill's lead was short lived as he had mechanical problems.  Josh May gained the top spot and went onto the win, Stensland 2nd, Dusty Masolini 3rd, Joel Huggins 4th and James May 5th.

The first feature of the night was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites. Adam Davis would take the early lead.  Mike Kennedy would take the lead from Davis.  Kennedy would have to battle with Randy Bryan late in the race.  Bryan took the win with Tim Hennigar, Mike Kennedy, Andy Hennigar and Adam Davis finishing 2nd through 5th.

Fans were greeted with 3 and 4 wide racing action along with Spectator Eliminators for $5 admission thanks to Rod Clement from Clement Heating and Cooling.

First feature of the night was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites for 15 laps. Colby Obermebt would lead the early going but Tim Hennigar made the pass for the lead on lap 4 after starting third row outside. Hennigar went on to take the win. Randy Bryan would pass Obermebt for 2nd, Josh May was 4th and Joel Huggins came home in 5th.

After a week off it was back to racing at the high-banked Marshalltown Speedway.

The O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites took the track for their Feature.  After the intial start being called back it was Tim Hennigar taking the lead.  Josh May took the lead from Hennigar on lap 4 and never looked back.  Tonight made 6 Feature wins for May, Hennigar finished 2nd followed by Mike Morrill, James May and Joel Huggins.

Temperatures rose to the upper 90's and racing action heated up on the high-banks of the Marshalltown Speedway for Minute Man Printing Night.

The first feature of the night was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites.  Tim Hennigar took command early from his pole position starting spot.  Hennigar would go on and take the win with Mike Morril, Josh May, Randy Bryan and Joel Huggins right behind rounding out the top 5.

First feature of the night was the O'Reilly Auto Parts Mod Lites. Charlie Brown took the early lead, but it was only short lived as Tim Hennigar would make the pass on lap 2. Josh May then took the top spot on lap 4. Then the first of 2 race cautions came out for Tim Hennigar coming to a stop.  May, would go on to the win despite a caution coming out on lap 14, which forced a green-white-checkered finish.  Mike Morrill, Andy Hennigar, Mike Kennedy and Michael Parcel rounded out the top 5 behind May.

101 racers signed in to do battle on KMJ Performance Night at the Marshalltown Speedway. On this night not only would we have great racing action, but we would also have to dodge the rain drops of Mother Nature. All the races were completed despite rain drops coming down and lightening to the north.

Gustin Continues Family Tradition at Marshalltown

Jenae Gustin added her name to the Marshalltown Speedway history books as another Gustin that has visited victory lane at the high banks of Marshalltown in her Big 8 Tyre Center SportMod.  Jayme Duinink led the first 3 laps of the 15 lap feature event and then Jenae made her move and led the rest of the way.  A late yellow flew and made the finish a dramatic green, white, checkered but Gustin was able to hold everyone off for the win.  Tyler Droste finished 2nd, Scott Davis 3rd and Cayden Carter 4th.

In the O’Rielly Modlite Dwarf Cars Mike Kennedy picked up his 3rd win of the season with his pass on leader Ivan Guerra on lap 4.  Guerra paced the field for the first 3 laps.  Tim Hennigar took 2nd, Ivan Guerra 3rd and Mike Morrill 4th.

Kyle Krampe led the first 16 laps of the 20 lap Meskwaki Casino Hotel Modified feature event but wasn’t able to secure the win as Jon Snyder used a late race pass with 3 laps to go to pick up his 2nd win of the season at Marshalltown. Luke Wanninger challenged for the lead but had a left front tire going down on his car.  Mike O’Lear got 2nd, Jimmy Gustin 3rd and Ronn Lauritzen 4th.  Snyder also picked up the Gambler race at the conclusion of the night to make it a double dip in victory lane!

Scott Durlin led the first 3 laps in the Junction Bar and Grill Hobby Stock A-Main and Clint Nelson was able to work past him with 8 laps to go to pick up his first career win at the Marshalltown Speedway.  Scott Durin came home in 2nd, Michael Murphy in 3rd and Eric Knutsen in 4th.

Rookie John Emerson led the first 2 laps of the Stock Car feature, and then Dave Atcher paced the field on laps 3-5 and then points leader Dustin Smith made his move and picked up another win at Marshalltown to add to his points lead.  Damon Murty took 2nd, Dave Atcher 3rd and Micheal Murphy 4th.

Mother Nature Wins Again

Mother Nature picked up another win on the year at the Marshalltown Speedway on Friday evening as the rain decided to cut loose after the ModLite A-Main came to a conclusion.  In the  ModLite feature Ivan Guerra led the first 3 laps of the 15 lap main event and then Joel Huggins made the pass off of turn 4 coming to lap 4 and le the rest of the feature to pick up his 4th win of the season at Marshalltown.   Tim Hennigar made a last corner pass to finish 2nd, Cory Sonner finished with a Marshalltown Speedway career best finish of 3rd and Eric Hendrickson rounded out the top 4.

The Gambler race has been rescheduled for Friday August 6th and the Spectator Eliminator will be made up on Friday August 13th.

Roberts gets First Career Marshalltown Win

Fans filed into the Marshalltown Speedway for a beautiful Friday night of racing with 114 cars checked in through the pit gate.  The race track stayed alive all night and allowed to drivers to pick any line they wanted to race and be fast.  Once again promoter Toby Kruse was happy with the racetrack after a fantastic night of racing

Ladehoff makes it two in a Row

Brett Ladehoff and Richie Gustin kept fans on the edge of their seat during Friday night’s 20 lap feature event for the Meskwaki Casino Hotel Modifieds.  Ladehoff and Gustin exchanged the lead 5 times in the last 6 laps at the finish line with Ladehoff coming out on top at the end.  Gustin came home in 2nd, Jimmy Gustin 3rd and Jon Snyder 4th.  Heat race winners were Richie Gustin, Joel Bushore and Daniel Hilsabeck.

Colby Oberembt led the first lap of the O’Rielly Auto parts ModLite feature event.  Dusty Masolini then led until lap 8 and eventual winner Josh May made his move on lap 9 for the win.  The yellow flag flew on laps 2,4,11 and 12 during the feature.  Tim Hennigar finished 2nd, Masolini 3rd and Mike Kennedy 4th.  Eric Hendrickson, Jeff Stensland and Josh May were each heat race winners

The Big 8 Tyre Center SportMod feature event took a while to get going, but the racing was amazing as Nick Roberts paced the field for the first 9 laps, in hunt of his first career Marshalltown Speedway win.  Scott Davis passed with 5 laps left and didn’t look back to make it 2 weeks in a row with a win.  Roberts finish 2nd, Jason Severance 3rd and Eric Flander 4th.  Heat race winners were Dylan Book, Curt Hilmer, Jenae Gustin and Gaitlin Leytham.

Dustin Smith made another visit to victory lane in the stock car feature after having to start 14th.  Rookie John Emerson led the first 3 laps and then Steve Meyer led laps 4 to 15 and then Smith made his move for the lead with 2 to go.  Meyer finished 2nd, Trent Murphy 3rd and Rick Brown 4th.  Heat race winners were Trevor Titus and Tommy Thompson.

In the Junction Bar and Grill Hobby Stocks, Devin Smith visited victory lane once again to add onto his points lead.  Vince Bucholz led the first 10 laps but a late caution on lap 8 allowed Smtih to close the gap.  Bucholz ended up 2nd, Dustin Filloon 3rd and Todd Reitzler 4th.  Heat race winners were Mike Vibbard, Dustin Filloon, Vince Bucholz and Josh Saunders.

Brian Irvine made his third appearance of the year at the Marshalltown Speedway for the 2010 season and for the third time of the year; he ended the night in Victory Lane.  Irvine used his outside 2nd row starting spot to take the lead on lap 7 of the 30 lap main event and didn’t look back after taking the lead to pick up the win on night number one of the Great American...

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (June 11, 2010) - Mother Nature decided to give us a little rain to start the night off at the Marshalltown Speedway.  The racetrack proved to be fast and drivers could run the high or low side of the racetrack as it worked in throughout the night, 112 cars rolled through the gates.  Three of the feature events were decided with last lap passes.

MARSHALLTOWN, IA (May 28, 2010) Promoter Toby Kruse opened up the night’s drivers meeting by telling the drivers that he would double their winnings if they could win the heat race and elect to go to the tail of the field in their respective class and win.  Lake City, Iowa native Dustin Smith decided to take Kruse up on the offer and went to tail of the Aarons Stock Car feature event and wasted no time by taking the lead on lap 8 from Tracy Gienger who led the first 7 laps.  The yellow flag came out on laps 3, 10 and 12. Michael Jeanette finished 2nd, Trent Murphy 3rd and Tracy Gienger 4th.  Heat race winners were Dustin Smith and Rick Brown.

Marshalltown, IA (May 18, 2010) – With Mother Nature finally on our side, a full grandstand got to see some of the best IMCA Late Model drivers in the country for Tuesday nights Miller Lite 50.  100 cars filled the pits as the Deery Brothers Late Models, Mod Lites, Karl Chevrolet SportMods and the Karl Chevrolet Dirt Trucks kept the fans on the edge of their seats all night long.

Marshalltown, IA (May 14, 2010) – Mother Nature finally decided to cooperate with us for a fantastic evening of racing at the Marshalltown Speedway.  A full grandstand greeted 111 race cars for the Cliff Chambers Memorial. Just like every week, there were multiple fast lines around the racetrack and race fans were treated with 3 and 4 wide race all night, as Promoter Toby Kruse ended the night in victory lane by saying, “that was an awesome night of racing!”
