KIX 101.1FM Night Brings Masterson, Masengarb, Gifford, Carter, Murty, and Berry to Victory Lane

Marshalltown, Iowa (August 8th, 2025)

All six IMCA classes were geared up for some weekly points racing at America’s Bucket List Track (Marshalltown Speedway) with 98 cars checked in.

It was time for the first feature of the evening. The IMCA Mod Lites presented by Drury Automotive geared up to go 15 laps with Steve Hartley starting on the pole with Charlie Brown to his outside. Brown would lead the first lap and lead the first eight laps. Jason Masengarb overtook Brown for the lead with seven laps to go. Masengarb and Bryan Zhem battled it out with one lap to go, but Masengarb would best Zhem to the line to secure his first win at Marshalltown this season. Bryan Zhem, Charlie Brown, Josh May, and Grant Anderson would round out the top five; Austin Gray would not finish tonight’s feature, resulting in his first DNF at Marshalltown this season.

Next up it was time for the IMCA SportMods feature presented by Rugged Radios as they geared up to go 16 laps. Josalyn Elmquist and Ryan King lead the 18-car field to the green, with King leading the first lap. Brayton Carter marched his way up to fourth in just one lap. A caution would fly with 12 to go as Kyle Olson went over the top of turns one and two. Carter took the lead with ten to go as he got past King coming to the line. A caution would fly with five to go as Chris Webb drew the caution; this would re-rack the field, meaning a thrilling finish was in the future. Carter would hang on to secure his eighth win at Marshalltown. Jenae Gustin, Luke Bird, Ryan King, and Randy Smith Jr. would round out the top five.

After the IMCA SportMods feature presented by Rugged Radios, it was time for the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature presented by Cappy’s Big 8 Tyre Center, geared up for 16 laps as Braelynn Long and Chad Rickett Jr. led the 24-car field to the green. Leah Wroten would lead the first lap. A caution would fly with five to go; Wroten led all 11 laps before the caution as she battled with Braydon Gifford and Eric Knutson. With four to go, a caution would fly as debris was spotted on the front straightaway with Wroten still leading. Gifford would take the lead with three to go and hold off Wroten to secure the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature. Leah Wroten, Briar Kriegal, Solomon Bennett, and Eric Knutson would round out the top five.

Following the IMCA Hobby Stocks feature presented by Cappy’s Big 8 Tyre Center, it was time for the IMCA Stock Car feature presented by Knight Sanitation. Ethan Atcheson and Dillon Solum led the field to the green flag; Solum would lead the first lap, but a caution would fly with 19 laps to go. Solum, Brayton Carter, and Dallon Murty battled for the top spot, but another caution would fly with 16 to go, promoting another restart. Carter would take the lap following that restart with 15 to go. Another caution would fly with five to go with Carter and Murty pulling away from the field. Murty, Carter, David Brandiss, and Jimmy Gustin battled it out the final five laps, but Murty beat Carter to the line to secure back-to-back wins at Marshalltown.

Brayton Carter, David Brandiss, Jimmy Gustin, and Dillon Solum would round out the top five.

After a thrilling finish in the IMCA Stock Car feature presented by Knight Sanitation, it was time for the IMCA Sport Compact Feature presented by Hy-Vee. Kadin Gosselink and Curtis Masterson lead the 11-car field to the green flag, with Masterson leading the first lap. Masterson would lead all 15 laps and secure his first win this season at Marshalltown. Christian Grady, Michael Gardner, Spencer Roggentien, and Nakota Roop would round out the top five.

It was time for a nightcap, as the IMCA Modifieds presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap were next on the track for their prospective 20-lap feature. Gat Leytham and David Brown would lead the 14-car field to the green flag. Brown would lead the first lap. Zach DeVillbiss would take the lead with 17 to go. A caution would fly also. Tom Berry Jr. took the lead with 16 to go, and he and DeVillbiss battled it out for the top spot and pulled away from the rest of the field. Dallon Murty chased down Berry Jr. with four to go and battled it out for the top spot, but Berry Jr. would hold on to secure his second win at Marshalltown this season. Dallon Murty, Zane DeVilbiss, Todd Shute, and Scott Simatovich would round out the top five in the nightcap.

Next Friday night, on August 16th, we will crown six track champions on N 3rd Avenue at Dairy Queen for the Larry & Barb Wollam season championship night. Pits open at 5:15, while hot laps start at 6:45, and racing action is to follow. Be sure to follow along on our social media channels and at marshalltownspeedway.com.
