October 23rd-25th Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle concludes the 2025 Race Season

MARSHALLTOWN, Iowa (9/30/25)

October brings farmers to the field and race teams to "America's Bucket List Track" for the final event of the season, the Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle on the High Banks. Last years event saw 239 race teams from 15 different state take the final laps of the season on the lightning fast clay 1/4 mile speedway.

This year will be no different as over $85,000.00 in purse money is on the line for IMCA racers along with Karl Chevrolet PRO Late Model Series. The 3 day event will take place October 23-25 and is on the radar of the regions best drivers. IMCA Modifieds race for $4,000.00 to win, Stock Cars $3,000.00, SportMods $2,000.00, Hobby Stocks $3,000.00 , Mod Lites and Sport Compacts $1,000.00. Pro Late Models $3,000.00.

Thursday night will kick off the weekend with an open practice with pit gates opening at 5:30pm and the track open from 6-9pm. Pit passes are $30.00 and the grandstands are free to watch. The ladies will get there chance to take on the track with the make up Powder Puff Races. There will be limited concessions in the pits.

Friday J&M Fabrication Qualifying night gets kicked off with pit gates opening at 4pm, Grandstands at 5:30pm and race action starting at 7pm. There will be no hot laps.

Qualifying will consist of drivers competing in 2 heat races with the 1st heat lined up from pill draw and the 2nd heat inverting the draw and shuffling drivers to different heat races. This way, they do not race against the same driver in both heat races. Drivers will be awarded finishing points and passing point for both heat races. The Top 6 in all divisions will lock into Saturdays Championship Feature and the "Corn Pickin" contest for their starting spots. Thanks to Elite Fleet Services, IMCA Hobby Stock heat races will pay $100.00 to win, $50.00 for 2nd and $25.00 for 3rd.

Championship Saturday will see Last Chance Heat Races lined up by points and then Last Chance Qualifiers to complete the 24 car starting field in the IMCA Mod Lites, Sport Compacts, Hobby Stocks, SportMods, Stock Cars, and Modifieds. The day will start off with a bag tournament at 10am there is a $40.00 team entry fee with 80% pay back. Pit Gates open at 12:30pm. Trailer Trick o' Treating from 3-4pm with the best decorated trailer winning $100.00. Grandstands open at 4pm with racing to start at 5pm.

This year we will also honor an icon in our sport and in the local and nation automotive industry, Carl Moyer. The Karl Chevrolet PRO Late Model Series will make it first appearance to the speedway and it will be with great honor that they do as we remember a great man.

"Marshalltown was my Dad's favorite track. He loved it because it always had a top, middle and bottom lanes you could run all night." Stated Bret Moyer. Carl Moyer left a legacy in the Iowa automobile industry that has locations today in not only Ankeny, but Stuart, Webster City, Story City, Glidden and of the Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram and GMC Dealerships in Marshalltown. He was also known for his help to the local racer and speed enthusiast with Karl Kustoms.

"When Brandon Davis called and said Bret Moyer wants to know if you would have a memorial race for Carl, I said we are honored that he would ask." Stated track General Manager Jerry Vansickel. He went on to comment that Carl taught so many, including himself many valuable things to use in life. "It's the Karl Way," Jerry said. "Carl had a way he wanted customers treated and it had so many great values that hold true to how we operate here at the track."
