Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle Breaks Records And An Inaugural Carl Moyer Memorial Champion Is Crowned
On a seasonally chilly weekend, race fans packed the grandstands one last time in 2025 season for the Fast Shafts Harvest Hustle on the High Banks Championship Night at "America’s Bucket List Track". A total of 284 entries overflowed the pit area from 13 states across six regular IMCA classes, plus 23 Karl Chevrolet Pro Late Models, made for a record-breaking car count at Marshalltown Speedway.
Friday night saw the top six in points from each division lock themselves into Saturday’s main events:
IMCA Modifieds Presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap: Tripp Gaylord, Tim Ward, Kyle Brown, Cayden Carter, Jake McBirnie, and Izac Mallicoat
IMCA Stock Cars Presented by Knight Sanitation: Braden Richards, Jake McBirnie, Jeffrey, Gage Neal, Jimmy Gustin, and Dallon Murty
IMCA SportMods Presented by Rugged Radios: Justin Klynsma, Matt Avila, Brayden Shepherd, Jake Newsom, Brayton Carter, and Maguire DeJong
IMCA Hobby Stocks Presented by Big 8 Tyre Center: Carson Butt, Joe Wollenhaupt, Kale Hemsley, Brandon Nielsen, Bradley Graham, and Briar Kriegel
IMCA Mod Lites Presented by Drury Automotive: Jon Padilla, Colby Oberembt, Austin Gray, Ed Griggs, Joel Huggins, and Randy Bryan
IMCA Sport Compacts Presented by Hy-Vee: Michael Gardner, Luke Fraise, Johnny Thomas, TJ Everard, Brian Hillringhouse, and Christian Grady.
First on track were the IMCA Mod Lites Presented by Drury Automotive. Randy Bryan started third, took the lead early, and never looked back. He pretty much ran away with the feature for a commanding win. Austin Gray, Jon Padilla, Colby Oberembt, and Justin Raffurty, who raced his way into the show and picked up +10 spots, rounded out the top five.
Next up were the IMCA SportMods Presented by Rugged Radios. An early restart proved to be the turning point, as Matt Avila used it perfectly to jump to the top side, get around Brayton Carter, and never look back. Even with a late restart trying to shake things up, Avila stayed smooth and picked up the win. Brayton Carter, Brayden Shepherd, Dylan VanWyk, and Cam Reimers rounded out the top five.
Then it was time for the Karl Chevrolet Pro Late Models to take the track for the 30-lap Carl Moyer Memorial Feature. Dallon Murty charged from fourth to the lead early and took it straight to the top side. Even with a late restart, Murty stayed in control and powered to the checkered flag. CJ Horn, Brennen Chipp, Matt Ryan, and Troy Morris III rounded out the top five.
The IMCA Hobby Stocks Presented by Big 8 Tyre Center were up next. Bradley Graham, no stranger to leading laps on the High Banks, took the early lead, but Carson Butt, the 14 year old rookie made a strong charge late to steal a thrilling feature win in the closing laps. Graham, Josh Starr, Nicholas Ronnebaum, and Brandon Nielsen completed the top five.
The IMCA Sport Compacts Presented by Hy-Vee ran green to checkered, with Michael Gardner and his 46 machine climbing from third to the front and driving away to victory. Brian Hillringhouse, Adam Broehm, and 2025 Track Champion Spencer Roggentien rounded out the top five.
Finally, it was time for the season nightcap the IMCA Modifieds Presented by Tire Demon by Love Tap. Jake McBirnie started on the pole and made it look easy. Even after a late restart, McBirnie never looked back, controlling the race from start to finish to close out the 2025 season with the win.
With the 2025 season now in the books, we’re already looking ahead to 2026! Keep an eye on our Facebook page and website for the full schedule release coming Thanksgiving Day.
